An age-old model of change suggests that in order to change, you first have to unfreeze the current state.
The current state hasn’t just been unfrozen, it has be nuked.
Change is now happening, at pace, and under pressure.
Thing is, soon it will start to cool down, and things will begin to freeze again.
Such is the way of change.
But, hold on…
What’s your role in all of this?
Someone I was coaching today said, “When things go back to normal…”
What? Are you kidding me?
Few things will go back to normal.
What self-respecting CEO in the health sector (for example) is going to forget how fast things could change during this crisis? They will I am sure tolerate a new normal whereby change doesn’t happen quite as fast, but never ever again as slow as it used to happen.
So, when your world lands (as it will) what will be the new normal?
And, what are you going to do to take the lead into the new normal? Dare I ask it, what are you going to do to shape the new normal in your world?
When the tragedy subsides, as things start to freeze again (as it will) who will be thriving?
