Client Confidential
Most leaders right now will have ditched expectations of achieving their targets in 2020.
Why? Because of the crisis.
“The whole world has changed and what we planned is no way achievable now. As a good leader, I need to let my people know I understand things have changed. It’s not their fault.”
I beg to differ.
The leaders of tomorrow, the new normal leaders, will do something different.
It’s a time for creativity, energy and drive.
Yes, the sentiment above is right, you have to bear in mind the circumstances creating the change. But, that doesn’t mean you have to give up on your goals.
So, how can you be both realistic and optimistic?
You inject ambition.
“Okay guys, the context has changed. The goal remains. What we planned is going to be stretched, so we have to get creative. Yes, when it comes to your review we will take this crisis into account, but come on, let’s get creative. I’m sure with all the talent here we can come up with something!”
Unless you do that, you have tacitly accepted defeat, and one of my other clients may be about to steal your market share from right under your nose, and probably from outside of your industry!
