These days, more and more people need to be able to influence people remotely, or virtually. Because of the geographical spread of many teams, this is an remote influence is an increasingly important skill to acquire.
For instance, how to:
- Influence people virtually when communication methods are limited?
- Build high trust relationships with people I have never met?
- Influence my boss who is located in another country?
- Handle difficult/tough/sensitive situations when I can’t meet face to face?
In times past, virtually all of the influencing that needed to be done could be accomplished over a coffee, or in a meeting, where you could lock eyes with the other person and quickly negotiate a way forward.
Personally, I believe that influence is just as achievable remotely as face to face. What’s different is the way you need to do it, and the time that it takes. In fact, some of my best relationships are remote. Once you learn and practice the techniques, and help the other person to do the same, the level of trust and influence will soar.
We will shortly be running a live webinar to tackle this difficult yet vital skill, Influencing Remotely:
