We are all on a development journey aren’t we? No matter what we have achieved, the dizzying heights we have scaled, there is always room for more.
Isn’t there?
So, who are you a role-model to? Who would you like to be a role model for? Or, what specifically would you like others to role-model from you?
Being realistic, how do you actually measure up right now? Be honest with yourself, are you the living breathing personification of your ideal? Have you measured up to what you want the world to notice, admire and hope to emulate?
Yes?
Liar.
No?
What could do with changing?
Perhaps:
- Becoming more consistent in your most admired skills.
- To work behind the scenes so you really believe you are what you present to the world.
- Some gaps to work on? Humility perhaps?
- Investigating what people see now – some feedback?
- Demonstrating more of what you do behind the scenes – show your workings?
- Learning more from your mentees?
Before you get carried away, I don’t want you to think that I am advocating that you should be seeking fame (or infamy), reliant on what others think of you. All I am doing here is suggesting a little fun to help you look in the mirror and stimulate or rekindle your drive for personal development.
The reality is that the most difficult person in the world to please is usually yourself. This is a challenge to help you live up to your maximum potential and recognise it in yourself, and others, leave that to them.
And yes, I did this exercise this morning and the insights generated were rather interesting, and for the time being, private!
