Chris is a senior-level change consultant. He is extremely good at his job, and with diligent networking has recently landed a fantastic opportunity to work on a team implementing change across Europe.
Already he has made good inroads and has begun to exert influence because he has started to build strong relationships. He can see much more potential, but there’s a problem.
What if he oversteps the mark and makes the guy who hired him feel threatened? What if he outshines the boss, and becomes viewed as an enemy?
He is totally dedicated to the cause, for the good of the client, and is determined to do everything he can to ensure that the change works. Yet at the same time, he cannot afford to become a casualty, and his boss seems to have a very personal agenda in flight.
Here are the initial objectives/questions that are going to drive his journey to the next level in the Impact and Influence Programme, which he is joining as a Private Client:
- “How can I navigate between the powerful personal agendas of those involved, including my boss, and still get the job done for the client?“
- “How can I ensure my boss continues to see me as a trusted adviser while also building relationships with those he sees as enemies?”
- “What can I do to position myself for greater opportunities in the future?”
With these questions to focus our work, Chris is well placed to make the most of what is on offer, including all the online courses, Q&A sessions and webinars. And, I will be here to make sure he finds the answers he needs so that he maximises the opportunity this new assignment can offer him.
This is only one example of the personal challenges the programme is designed to help people with. Based on the many conversations I’ve had, and the people I am currently working with, it will also be a match for people who are:
- Swamped by the politics and need to equip themselves with the means, and the confidence to break through and get the results they need.
- Unable to get senior management to take notice of what they have to say, and to see the greater contribution they could be making.
- Constantly being overlooked for promotion and, have been unable to make their mark and get the attention they deserve.
- Committed to finding a way to influence change in cultures adverse to risk or, doing anything different.
- Finding it tough working in a political culture that works in a way that is completely at odds with their values.
