Do you remember the Photocopier game from 21 Dirty Tricks at Work? Well, that was just one example of how dubious characters can play you and your emotions to their advantage.
So you really do need to pay attention to the way you keep reacting, and install some safely measures.
STOP Getting Hijacked by Your Emotions
Come on, you know this. When are you going to do something about it so you cease to be taken advantage of?
Take Control of Your Emotions Exercise
- Think of a recent example of when someone played politics with you.
- Reflect on the emotions you experienced, and how you actually responded.
- Now, if you had that moment again, what would you do differently?
Implement Better Emotional Control
- Raise your level of awareness about how you are responding emotionally to things that are going on during the day.
- Notice how others are reacting with emotions or cool logic.
- Practice the suggestion approach above on several situations each day, even if they are not extreme.
