“It was the worst of times, it was the best of times, it was the age of foolishness, it was the age of wisdom, if was the epoch of incredulity, it was the epoch of belief, it was the season of Darkness, it was the season of Light, it was the winter of despair, it was the spring of hope.” Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities (forgive me, subtlety amended).
This weekend has been amazing.
Since writing and publishing Opportunity of a lifetime? on Friday I’ve been busy. Engaging with clients and subscribers. Learning how they are responding, and finding out what is happening beyond the news. It fuels my optimism that dark though these days undoubtable are, good things will come from this.
For instance, I’ve been hearing about medical innovations that have languished in red-tape for years, now rushing through at breakneck speed, which will improve the quality of care for patients in amazing ways – and well beyond today’s crisis.
Of revolutionary working practices being rolled out faster than it was possible to imagine just a few weeks ago.
And social innovations where many people are learning to enjoy new ways of living (and working) that where hitherto shunned “oh I don’t like that, that’s not me.”
A client got in touch with an idea. I matched him with another client. There is hope that this idea will move to MVP (Minimum Viable Product) within 2 weeks and implementation in 4 weeks. An idea to solve an excruciating problem that needs to be solved right now, and will perhaps also save the countless millions.
I could go on. Instead, I encourage you look for them, with the right attitude – things are changing, fast and forever.
Of course, bad things are happening too, and to coin a phrase, it is important that we “prepare for the worst and expect the best.”
