A few weeks ago I was again reminded (by a client) that while I like to think of dirty tricks in the workplace as being petty politicking, the damage created by these short-sighted malicious techniques is huge.
Some 15 years after the publication of 21 Dirty Tricks at Work, they are pretty much all just as relevant as they always have been. Which is perhaps why the book (published in 2005) is still selling at very respectable levels.
My goal is that all my clients/readers become familiar with these, see them for what they really are, and find simple ways to handle these with ease, integrity and compassion.
If you are suffering from the dreaded office politics/dirty tricks, take a look at these resources:
- Dirty Tricks at Work: A summary of the 21 Dirty Tricks we tackled in the book.
- Top Ten Irritating Political Situations at Work: The more damaging symptoms.
- Attitudes to Politics and Influence: Natural tendencies and the way they handicap.
- Aiding and Abetting Machiavellian Characters: Non-action is not feasible.
- Aristotle, Rhetoric and Influence: The case for up-skilling yourself.
- Antidote No. 1: A general purpose, high-integrity/assertive approach to tackle them head-on.
