In work, and in life, it is common to find people trampling all over your boundaries. Stomping through the flowers beds of your values, standards and tolerances.
When someone does that, you’d be pretty normal if you got angry (at least inwardly).
Why do people do this so often?
Because it is rare that boundaries get discussed and agreed before someone commits the crime and stomps on your best prize-winning Roses.
Boundaries can never be completely hammered out, but all steps in the direction of clarity will help to avoid these violations, and make them easier to handle calmly.
As I like to say, “Don’t be surprised if people trample over your boundaries if you haven’t told them where they are.”
Now, what boundaries do you need to (kindly) point out to others?
Oh, and while I think of it, do you need to investigate the boundaries of those around you too? Don’t want to go upsetting people unwittingly now do you?
